Landesgartenschau 2022 Bad Gandersheim

Bad Gandersheim has a rich potential of nature, culture, history and health offers. The State Garden Show aims to tap into this potential by creating a sustainable, modern park landscape. Existing open spaces will be networked, upgraded and made accessible by a network of footpaths and cycle paths. The focus is on the diverse water system with rivers, lakes and springs, which will be renaturalized and made tangible. Seven interconnected park areas form the backbone of the design, including the Dreiwasserpark, Zweiseenpark, spa gardens and the Gandeaue nature park. A former railroad embankment serves as an elevated park and sculpture path that connects central locations and parks. Water is staged as a central design element – with cascades, pavilions, water playgrounds and brine springs. Main and side paths structure the landscape, with stations to linger, play and discover. The design is based on classic landscape gardens with scenographically guided paths that constantly open up new perspectives. The result is a decentralized, lively open space system for all generations.
