Quartierspark Hameln

The design for the park on the conversion site of the Linsingen barracks aims to create a contemporary, versatile and identity-forming place that will become the center of the new district. Entrance areas link the park with adjacent neighborhoods and the education and health campus and take on specific functions such as arrival, meeting or play and sports facilities. Inspired by the Süntel beech tree, a curved circular path made of colored asphalt forms the main structure, which opens up all areas of the park and is accompanied by a characteristic “veil” of concrete slabs with lawn joints. This integrates features such as seating, play and sports equipment and creates transitions to the surrounding neighborhoods. The carefully modeled topography forms a meadow valley with a viewing hill and integrates retention areas. Groups of trees – a grove of saplings, a group of birch trees and a pine grove – create a special atmosphere. The small park is visually enlarged through targeted staggering and visual axes. The equipment invites all age groups to exercise, play and linger.
