Freiraum Südpark
The State Garden Show offers Leinefelde the opportunity to create an attractive landscape area with innovative forms of living in the south of the city. The new Südpark forms the green heart of the garden city district and connects it with the urban space. A city promenade runs through the park as the main access system and integrates the public spaces of the garden city. The park also serves as a buffer to the adjacent commercial area and connects to Südstadt to the north. It is divided into three areas: The Wiesenpark in the west is reminiscent of a modern public park with a wide lawn area for play, festivals and leisure use, framed by small-scale, green play and recreation zones. To the east is the Augarten, whose central element is the renaturalized riverbed of the Ohne. Paths lead along the water, but preserve retreats for animals and plants. A near-natural playground and quiet places to sit make the Augarten particularly worth experiencing – as part of a lively, versatile city park.
