Walckerpark Ludwigsburg
From the geometry of the surrounding traffic routes, an elliptical loop of paths is created in Walckerpark, which surrounds a generous meadow area and organizes a variety of uses along its edge. In contrast to the neighboring palace garden, the park focuses on contemporary forms and usage concepts. The so-called “loop” – a single, continuous path without beginning or end – multiplies the possibilities for movement in the compact space. The slight topography creates an arena-like situation with active zones with play and sports areas inside. These are cut into an extensive area of grasses and shrubs as independent sub-spaces and contrast with the open meadow, which is used more informally. Existing trees in the north, northwest and in the center were integrated into the design concept and strengthen the spatial structure of the park. The result is a concise open space with a clear concept that makes it possible to experience movement, tranquillity and nature.
