Bürgerpark im Grünen Bogen Paunsdorf

Opened in 2014, Bürgerpark forms the heart of the recreational facilities in the Grüner Bogen Paunsdorf. A multifunctional park with a landscaped lake, nestled between two hills, was created on what was formerly fallow farmland. To the west, it is bordered by a naturally grown forest backdrop, while to the east it is bordered by the residential buildings of the large housing estate. A circular path, which will eventually span the entire Grüner Bogen, divides the park into a lively residential area and a quieter landscape area. The lake is not only used for recreation, but also as part of a natural rainwater retention system for the neighboring industrial park. A dam lamella regulates the outflow during heavy rainfall. This dual function enabled the city of Leipzig to finance the construction of the lake. On the southern hill, a barrier-free viewing platform invites visitors to linger. A retaining wall along the path echoes the design motif of the terraces in the Bürgerpark.
